LONG RECAP:
- The session started with the Dharan soldiers about to hang Kate, the Mayor, and Jim Fox.
- The party, many of them invisible, remained hidden in the crowd as they cast various spells preparing to intervene.
- Feng summoned invisible Pixies, who appeared on stage and cast polymorph on the prisoners, including Kate, Jim Fox and the Mayor, turning them into bats.
- At that next instance, a fog cloud appeared on the platform, plunging the Dharan’s and the prisoners in darkness.
- Some of the bats tried to fly as the Dharan’s slashed wildly in the dark, breaking polymorph on Kate and Jim.
- Ubi and Rorin entered the mix and were prepared to help deal with the Dharans head on, but it proved to be unnecessary. At least 5 area of effect spells, such as Entangle, Ice Storm, Stink Cloud, Exsanguinating Cloud, and Wall of Fire crippled the Dharans and eventually killed almost all of them, including Commander Rufus and Ambassador Torey.
- The party fled the scene as a few Dharan guards managed to escape, and returned to the Inn.
- Kiervasan broke the news of Horace’s death to Molly, and returned the birthday card to her that she had given to Horace, along with the letter that Horace had written to her but had never given her. Molly was inconsolable and fled the room sobbing.
- Kate, Kamvase, and Jim Fox followed close behind and were overjoyed that the “people” had taken up arms against their oppressors!
- Kate refused to be reasoned with and explained that her plan was to get captured so she could get close to Commander Rufus and take him out. She didn’t care if she died in doing so. She was willing to be a martyr.
- Kiervasan informed her that this was idiotic and the others tried to explain that she would likely be dead if they had not interfered.
- Kate thanked them and explained that it was all just fate and that now that the people had seen that the oppressors had lost their leadership, they would back her further attempts at revolution.
- Jade rushed in and was furious that there had been an attack against the Dharans. She explained that the remaining Dharans had alerted Barak, Keledek, and his Mord-Sith and that they were bringing a dragon to raze the city, which would prevent her from recovering the Box of Orden.
- The party told her that they were going to the Underworld to get the Silver Conch. Jade stormed off muttering something about “Yes, you are going to the underworld because you are all about to get killed.”
- The party moved quickly to a private room and used the teleportation rings to get to the Grey Tower for a long rest.
- During the long rest, Avari announced that he was not going into the Underworld but one of his underlings, Levethix, would be joining them.
- Kriick was upset by this news.
- During Jon Marston’s watch, Kriick, upset that Avari was leaving, asked Jon to pinkie-promise that Jon would not leave.
- Jon would not make that complete promise, but did offer to make a promise that he would do his best to stay with Kriick.
- Bride spoke up and asked if they were really taking her to the Underworld. She explained that she was very nervous of going there and being left there.
- She explained that she was worried that the Collector would take her and keep her in the Underworld.
- When asked who the Collector was, she only explained that he was an extremely evil creature in the Underworld that collected things and whatever was collected never left. He had a LOT of stuff collected and she was worried that she would be added to the collection. (DM Quote: “The Collector is awful; he is like a hoarder with unlimited Ebay credit.”)
- The session ended after the long rest.
SHORT RECAP
- The DM had a fantastic encounter planned. The party was going to trade steel with two bosses (level 14 fighter and level 14 monk) and their minions with lots of smart and funny banter.
- Instead, the party cast 5 area of effect spells, turning the square into an ice storm, stink cloud, fog cloud, fire wall and some other weird cloud that did necrotic damage, which resulted in 2.5 hours of failed saving throws for the bad guys.
- The party took a long rest.
- Session ended.
