- The party started the session on the floating rocks of the Grey Citadel, now a destroyed castle in the sky.
- Xexillia had just been summoned back to the Void.
- Barak Vasak had just been blown off, although no one saw him land as he disappeared into the thick smoke and clouds below.
- Jerikki had just grabbed the Void horn and Teak’s dead body, and disappeared back into the portal to the Underworld.
- Zordan was dangling by one hand off the side of a floating rock, trying his best to keep concentration on Bigby’s Hand, which held the Box of Orden. He eventually pulled himself up.
- At this point, the dragons flew over. Blaze and Kriick bickered and Ryan try to prompt Jon Marston do to the right thing to protect all of Vala.
- Loo demanded to know where Feng and Avari were. They party told him that Feng and Avari had not come through the portal to the Grey Citadel and were still in the city below.
- The dragons begged/demanded that the party get to the Moonwell and save the dragons, and they dove down into the burning mess of the Grey Citadel below.
- At this point, the party had leap/teleport/re-position/misty step onto the airship.
- Once onboard, a short female gnome yelled “Get off the Night Falcon! This is MY ship! I am the captain now!”
- Kriick tried to negotiate with the gnome and learned that her name was Ubi, and she had a pelican first mate named Pepper. She was a hired spelldriver for the Crimson Cloaks, and after she learned that they had died, she exploded, “I am not going to get paid!?! Again!”
- She tried to demand 50 percent of all loot or she wasn’t going to move the airship.
- Jon Marston tried to take the helm, but there was no reaction, and the ship was still tied to the metal spire attached to the air dock.
- Ubi sprinted below deck and Kriick, Velma, and Kiervasan chased after her.
- Jon Marston cut the rope and the ship bobbed in the air.
- Argone grabbed Pepper by the neck after negotiations broke down with Ubi. Pepper kicked its feet.

- Ubi came back on deck and begged the Argone not to break Pepper’s neck.
- Further negotiations were held and finally Ubi agreed to fly the ship, but they had to serve as the crew and she wanted a cut of loot. She was given 114 silver pieces.
- The party was directed to take a cabin and report back on deck for assignments.
- Once the party stowed their gear, they met back on deck and she explained about the sky realm.

- The sky realm was a plane that existed above the clouds. This realm is called Sordane and exists above 5,000 feet.
- She explained the various levels of elevation within Sordane, including explaining about the Stratosphere, the Mesosphere, the Thermosphere, and the Exosphere.
- She explained that the clouds, at least many of them, were actually cloud islands, and were solid. There were castles, keeps, and even cities on some of the clouds.
- She explained about the wildlife and monsters that inhabited the realm.
- She discussed the Nokalura, which was a 500 foot flying snake that lived above the Mesosphere and rarely came down into the lower realms, but the crewman that mans the crow’s nest must be on the look-out for creatures and clouds that are solid.
- She gave the party assignments and roles, and they pushed off from the now completely failing Grey Citadel.
- As they pushed away, the last floating rock fell, and the portal went with it. It fell and there was an audible “pop” sound as it was destroyed.
- Night fell as the Night Falcon glided smoothly through the clouds up into the jet stream. As the ship ascended, the party could tell that they had moved into the new level of Sordane.

- The night was uneventful, and in the morning the party started to see the wildlife that Ubi had discussed. They saw flying birds like seagulls and even sky whales. It was actually an enjoyable flight.
- Kriick and Argone were quick learners and they began to pick up on the sailing techniques to fly an airship. The party would still need a caster to learn Spelldriver if they were to be rid of Ubi.

- As the day wore one, the call came out from the crow’s nest that a ship was spotted in a belt of sky rocks.
- The party drew close and saw two Dwarves mining the sky rocks with a much smaller airship equipped with a drill-crane.
- After some hailing, the Dwarves, named Duffin and Eeki (wearing a metal suit of armor with a face mask) ordered the party away, claiming that Niebo had given them permission – these were their sky rocks.
- The party asked what sky rocks were for and learned that some of them could be mined to get sky gems, which powered the Airships. With a sky gem in the engine room of an airship that had a trained spelldriver (which is a class) casting spells, the spell levels would convert into sky points which could be used to power the ship, increase its speed, provide a protective shell (like shield spell and Lemond’s Tiny Hut – so the ship could travel up into the Mesosphere), and, if the airship had a turret, could be used to shoot Magic Missile and other combat spells. Ubi was a spelldriver.
- As the party was talking with them, suddenly two cloud sharks and a sky manta ray flew up through the sky rocks and attacked. The sky manta rammed the Dwarves’ ship and knocked Eeki off, but he floated instead of plummeting down 5,000 feet.
- The sharks flew across the deck of the Night Falcon and bit Kriick and Jon Marston.
- The sky manta ray then slammed the Night Falcon.
- The party fought valiantly and rescued the fallen Dwarf and freed Kriick and Jon Marston before the cloud sharks flew off with them.

- A fireball was cast during the fight and actually hit the Dwarves’ ship, disabling it. Zordan put out the fire by using a Cone of Cold.
- After the fight, the Dwarves asked if the Night Falcon could tow them to a nearby sky island. The party agreed and rigged up a rope to tow their ship.

- An hour later, the party was quickly surrounded by three ships filled with sky Orcs, who attempted to capture the Night Falcon.
- The fight was intense. One of the pirate airships was engulfed in flames when Kiervasan cast Boiling Oil on it, and eventually crashed. Orcs that jumped off the ship had belts with wings, and they slowly flew away (Watto style).
- In the fight, Jon Marston cut a rigging line and swung across from one ship to the other. He barely made it and had to claw his way up its wing, but once on the ship, he drew Bride and entered a zone of combat, rolling double natural 20s for his first two attacks, and another natural 20, as he slew 3 Orcs. Bride tried to send him into a bloodlust but he fought off her desires.
- The party went on to defeat the Orc pirates and captured two of their airships.
- The session ended as the party tried to tow three ships to the nearby sky keep.
