The session started with the party outside the front gate that led into the Per-Bast necropolis. As the party was talking with the few guards, who were disappointed that there were no reinforcements coming with the party, four undead Shadowgasts, in gaseous form, slipped through the air slits. Quasin looked into the gatehouse, emitted a squeal of fear, and flew off.
The shadow gasts were tough, emitting a nauseous stinking smell that poisoned Zephyr for a round. Their claws were coated with some ungodly substance that would paralyze, and their mouths contained both sharp teeth and forked, 2-foot-long tongues.
The two guards fled after their leader, a Per-Bastet temple warrior, was paralyzed and killed.
During the fight, a grey falcon appeared on the gatehouse walls. It surveyed the battle and starred at Nix. Nix met its eyes and felt his thoughts probed, but he was able to push it back out of his mind.
Zithgar tried to communicate and beckoned for the falcon to land on his shoulder. The grey falcon stretched its wings wide, and that responded in Zithgar’s head, “in good time.”
Aswan used Spiritual Guardian, which was instrumental in protecting the party as the shadowgasts charged. Zithgar tore into them, and Karwl darted back and forth, crushing them with quarterstaff strikes.
Belladonna and Nix stayed near the spiritual guardians and launched long-distance attacks. Eventually, the shadowgasts were defeated.
Karwl scaled the wall to survey the mob of undead on the other side. Looking through the arrow slits, she saw hundreds, if not a thousand, undead (a mix of zombies, skeletons, ghouls, and others), pressing against the gate. She hopped back down to the party and discussed their next step. It was decided they would walk around the Necropolis, looking for another entrance, and then return to a safe place by 6 pm so they could take a long rest.
The party began their trek through the abandoned streets of Per-Bastet at around 3 pm. They would occasionally hear sounds of screams of horror or death, sounds of running feet, slamming doors, etc. Things were in the streets, but so far, the party had seen no one. Even the guard patrols were not seen in this part of the city.
As the party rounded a street corner, they heard human voices crying for help. They were calling out. The party saw an injured merchant, bite and claws marks visible on his body stumbled towards them. “Help! My family is being attacked by undead creatures… something that looks like undead foxes!
Snarls and growls could be heard deeper into the narrow city streets, along with more screams.
The party quickly headed towards the sounds.
Turning the corner around a stone house, they saw 4 undead foxes (Ondooie Jakkals) cornering three commoners.
Wasting no time, the party attacked, led by Zephyr rushing up first, followed by Zithgar’s charge. The Ondooie Jakkals, were very fast and were capable of biting, clawing, and swinging a tail that drains life! Once they hit, they could disengage and jump away. The fight went on, and Zephyr was knocked unconscious. Belladonna healed Zephry, saving her from death. More Ondooie Jackals appeared, and the fight went on. Eventually, the party was able to kill the undead foxes.
As the party was catching their breath, three grey falcons landed in the alley, and transformed into:
— A female creature with red eyes, white sharp claws, and vampiric teeth.
— A bald man with runes on his head, who is holding a staff and wearing robes.
–a well-dress male, with pale, white skin and black hair that is slicked back.
Nix immediately recognizes the man with the black hair as Felix Traidor, a vampire from his father’s city.
“Well, you are a hard one to find,” says Felix. “Your father sends his greetings.”
The session ended.
