Upon their return to Saltmarsh, the party met with Gellan Primewater at the Empty Net. He proposed that they recover a chest from a ship that was wrecked on an island by an out-of-control lighthouse. After some back and forth, he explained that he wanted the chest to arrive secretly so that he could control supply and demand for the products inside it. He didn’t care if his “agent” was recovered successfully or not–he just wanted the chest. He was not willing to offer a reward at that time but promised to pay one, subject to negotiation, upon the recovery.
The party also saw Kym working at the Empty Net, but she was very shy and didn’t really engage with the party.
Andy and Kym exchanged glances, but again Kym was embarrassed and didn’t talk to anyone.
The party sailed the Reef Hawk down toward the Solmor Estate and encountered some nasty waves, and hit a number of coral reefs and sand bars.
They did observe the lighthouse and sailed by the wreck that Gellan had told them about.
Arriving in the vicinity of the Solmor mansion, they anchored offshore and rowed towards a beach a half-mile south.
As they approached, the sky was filled with a dark, foreboding mist that swirled to revealed the face of a female ghost.
As they got closer to the mansion, the ghost in the mist told them to leave and to stop desecrating her graveyard.
The party cautiously proceeded into the courtyard and were attacked by ghouls and skeletons.
River revealed her cleric gifts and turned some of the creatures.
Jon Marston wielded Bride and took down a number of the skeletons and ghouls, but in doing so entered a strange rage and ended up attacking River until she lost consciousness.
Bride tried to get Kriick to use arcane power, but to no avail.
After the fight, the party healed up and demanded answers from Bride and Marston. Bride explained that she gains a blood lust when she gets the killing blow on a creature, and she begged the party not to throw her into the ocean.
After Marston agreed to use Bride in moderation, the party cautiously entered the Solmor mansion and Argone yelled out for Ned.
The party heard a slamming door from upstairs and breaking glass from the west wing.
They explored and found a library, a study, and a living room.
They found a couple of healing potions and three books: “The Magical Properties of Gemstones” By Arch Mage Tenser; “The Magical Properties of Herbs and Flowers” By Master Alchemist Hianeye; and “The Metaphysics of Mathematics” by Nystul the Red.
They found a painting above the fireplace of a red-haired couple in their late 20s.
They also found a trap-door in living room.
At this time, heavy footsteps were heard coming down the stairs and Ned IronPast, a ghastly looking man, appeared at the end of the hallway.
