The party encountered Ned IronPast, who thought they were pirates bringing magic items and prisoners, and who wanted to know why they were not coming up through the cave entrance.
Once Ned realized that they were not part of his crew, he attacked and tried to take Bride from Jon.
Keledeck entered the fight and something in the basement tried to come up through the trap-door in the living room.
River held the trap door down while Jon and Argone battled Ned, eventually dropping him.
Once Ned died, the presence in the basement stopped pushing up on the trap door.
The party chased Keledeck up the stairs, and in a last-ditch effort to escape he cast Lightning Bolt into the party, which brought Jon down for the second time.
Argone slew Keledek as Keledek fled, and Keledek’s body transformed into that of a doppelganger.
The party found various magic items on Ned, including a key with a missing gem.
The party also found a letter from Iscar Blackthorn containing information about where the Silver Conch was located.
The party searched the house and found various paintings.
The party also found Captain Owen Solmor’s private study. There the ghost of Mary Solmor harried the party and demanded that they put her to rest by (1) getting the family treasure to Andy, and (2) killing the girl who had wrecked her family.
They found Owen’s diary and learned that 3 years ago, with his business in financial trouble, he turned to illegal smuggling and Skerrin introduced him to Ned IronPast.
They learned that Randy, one Owen’s captains, found a treasure map, and that Ned was trying to take over the business.
They learn that Owen wanted to buy Eda’s ships and tried to get Randy, who was dating her, to pressure her to accept Owen’s offer for them.
They also learned of an affair between Kym and Owen.
The party promised the ghost they would bring Andy back with the key and the missing gem.
They returned to Saltmarsh and River confronted Kym. Kym admitted to the affair but begged River to keep it a secret. She said that she and Eda had been very close following Randy’s death and Eda had given her the gem, but over time Eda withdrew from her and they almost never spoke anymore.
The party talked to Andy, who had tons of questions. The party wouldn’t answer them and instead took him by ship back to the Manor.
Andy encountered the ghost of his mother, and had tons of questions.
The ghost of his mother went crazy and wanted them to open the vault.
River gave Andy the key and he opened the vault…
The session ended and the party leveled and is now level 5.
